Leslie County event to bring in riders from all over the world

HYDEN, Ky. (WYMT) – The War Daddy Bike Race is coming to Leslie County again. The race has grown in popularity over the years.

Participants come from all over the country and the world to take part in this race.

“The first year, there were only 25 people in attendance, but this year we have 127 participants from all over the United States and even a few from France,” Hyden Mayor Carol Joseph said.

With this increase in participants, that means more people get to experience the beauty that Hyden and all of Leslie County have to offer. Mayor Joseph said she believed this will be a great time to showcase that beauty.

”It has a big impact on us because we’re all kind of vain. We think this is one of the prettiest places in the world. We’re proud of our town and our county, so we hear it from the bike riders too. They tell us how beautiful it is and beautiful places they saw and how friendly and nice everyone is to them.”

The goal is to continue this growth and see it become even larger. Mayor Joseph believes event leader John Maggard is on the right path of continuing that trend.

”The sky is the limit and John and some of his friends they take parts in rides all over the United States and I’m sure they tell everybody about it. You know I think it’s been in some magazines and different things,” Carol Joseph said.

The War Daddy Bike Race will start Saturday, April 27 at 9 a.m. at the RV park in Leslie County.
