Samsung Announces The Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition With An 8-Inch Dynamic AMOLED Display, 16GB Of RAM, And Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 Chipset

It has not been long since Samsung launched its Galaxy Z Fold 6, which users were looking forward to. Contrary to the expectation, the new model did not undergo a major design overhaul and instead shared many similarities with its predecessor. This came as a disappointment for users, especially when the competition in the foldable market is getting intense, and the technology keeps on advancing. The company did acknowledge its lack of innovation and even issued a public apology for it. Now, the South Korean firm has stepped up its game by unveiling the much-awaited Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition.

The foldable smartphone market has been getting intense, with Huawei and Oppo bringing on their A game and advancing by bringing technological advancements to their foldable. Samsung, even though pioneered in the category, evolution has not been the most refined as the Galaxy Z Fold 6 did not live up to users’ expectations. The offerings were not significant, but the company is now determined to change that with its Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition.

The Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition model is here, which marks some major differences from the original Z Fold 6 and comes with a chassis that is far thinner and lighter and is being considered the far better version. The model was unveiled in South Korea and has a distinctive and refined design. What makes the model truly stand out is the display, which is by far the biggest one on Samsung’s foldable. It features a cover screen with a 21:9 ratio standing at 6.5 inches. The inner folding screen stands at 8-inch with a 20:18 aspect ratio.

The special edition foldable device also addresses one of the biggest hindrances of a folding phone: the cramped outer display. With a better aspect ratio, the outer screen would offer a more comfortable experience and allow tasks such as messaging and browsing to be carried out seamlessly. While it has only been launched in South Korea, it will be released in China later on. The model is priced at 2,789,600 KRW, roughly equivalent to USD $2000.

The Galaxy Z Fold SE is an upgrade from the Z Fold 6 due to its lightweight design, which offers portability and comfort. It is 1.5mm thinner and 3 grams lighter than the Z Fold 6. Another upgrade is the wide-angle sensor, which has jumped from 50 megapixels to 200 megapixels, improving significantly the camera and allowing for more detailed images. The inner and outer displays are relatively larger, making the device taller and wider and the SE model comes with 16GB of storage. Overall, the Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition is Samsung’s way of getting back to the competition and marks its attempts to bring innovation and help it stand out.
