Pelham City Council declines to punish businesses allegedly offering…
Members of the Pelham City Council on Monday declined unanimously to revoke the business licenses of two bars allegedly offering illegal gambling to customers.
According to Birmingham’s ABC 33/40, Lil Bits Tavern and Pub 261 will be able to continue operating after city officials received reports earlier in October regarding both establishments regularly offering bingo with cash entry and cash prizes.
Many people showed up to Monday’s council meeting wearing t-shirts that said, “Alabama Blazing Bingo” at Lil Bits, according to the outlet.
The Pelham city attorney says after both businesses were informed of their illegal activities by the city and understood the law, all bingo activities were ceased immediately.
