Aviators sports bar opens in Mandan

BISMARCK, N.D. (KFYR) – Aviators is the name of Mandan’s newest business. Located at 202 West Main Street, the sports bar is owned by 5 people, and Ryan Deichert is one of them.

The name was inspired by Deichert who is a pilot.

“The idea actually came from one of my good friends and one of the owners, he’s getting into aviation right now and I’m a pilot so we came together and he had this idea, ‘Let’s make a bar that’s themed after an airport or aviation or airplanes,’” said Deichert.

While starting up a business, Deichert also juggled becoming a father.

“It’s challenging, but it’s a good challenge, just like everything in life. A good challenge makes you a better person, so I’m excited for both avenues of my life,” said Deichert.

The business had a soft open over the last 2 weeks. Not being officially open has not stopped people from coming in.

“We have a lot of locals that have been coming in, a lot of people off the street, even though we haven’t advertised that we’re open, they’re stopping in and checking us out,” said Deichert.

The establishment has started out as a comfortable environment for Jersey Thomas, a bartender at Aviators.

“Everyone kinda took me under their wing, and just helped me out because it’s my first time bartending, so everyone was really welcoming,” said Thomas.

Aviators serves people every day of the week, from 3 p.m. to 1 a.m.
