Yanks to start Rodón in Game 2, Schmidt in Game 3

LOS ANGELES — Lefty Carlos Rodón will start Game 2 of the World Series for the Yankees on Saturday night at Dodger Stadium, and right-hander Clarke Schmidt will start Game 3 at Yankee Stadium on Monday night.

Rodón, who will square off against Dodgers rookie right-hander Yoshinobu Yamamoto, has posted a 4.40 ERA in three starts this postseason, with his best start coming in the American League Championship Series opener against the Guardians (one run on three hits and no walks in six innings, with nine strikeouts).

Rodón bounced back with a 3.96 ERA and 10 strikeouts per nine innings this season, his second after signing a six-year, $162 million deal with the Yankees.

“I’ve pitched in Dodger Stadium before,” Rodón said. “I think it’s going to be similar [as to] when you’re in a Giants jersey, but a little louder, obviously a lot more on the games. But I think it’s going to be a fun atmosphere. It’s going to be a fun experience and the goal is obviously to go out there and win the baseball game. So that’s kind of what I’m most focused on.”

The Dodgers have not announced who will start opposite Schmidt, who’s made two starts so far this postseason, allowing two runs over 4 2/3 innings in each outing, one in the AL Division Series and one in the ALCS.
