Bellefonte closes out the regular season tonight in Week 10 against Richland.

Bellefonte enters the Week 10 regular-season finale with a 6-3 record and travels to Richland tonight, a team with a 7-2 mark.

Bellefonte has been playing outstanding its past few weeks. The Raiders are 4-1 in their last five games, with the only loss in that span coming to Bishop McCort, who won 28-0. Last wek, Bellefonte beat Huntingdon, 49-26.

Liam Halterman went just 6 for 8 last week, but he did throw for 172 yards and found the endzone. Bellefonte did a lot of its damage on the ground, however. Senior Aden Howell ran for 115 yards on just four carries, averaging an impressive 28.8 yards per carry, and had a touchdown. Isaac Gall ran for a touchdown and Halterman carried it four times for 78 yards and two touchdowns. Halterman also averaged 19.5 on the ground per rush.

Halterman did a good job spreading the ball around last Friday. Halterman hit four receivers on the night. Jaeden Gabrovsek reeled in three receptions for 73 yards and a touchdown while Gall (1 for 40), Aden Howell (1 for 8) and Ashten Howell (1 for 51) caught passes.

Halterman has routinely showed he’s able to move the chains with his arm and his legs. He’s thrown for almost 1,000 yards this year (914) with eight touchdowns and just two interceptions, and on the ground, he leads the team with 400 yards and eight touchdowns.

Richland lost two weeks ago to Clearfield, 41-21, but responded last week with a 23-10 win against Chestnut Ridge.Jacob Regan, a freshman, went 18 for 27 for 166 yards and a touchdown against Richland to help his team secure the win.

While Richland’s offense played well, it was the team’s defense which made a statement.

Richland’s defense held Chestnut Ridge freshman quarterback Landyn Princin to a 3 for 7 passing performance for 12 yards. And rushing-wise, Chestnut Ridge had just 66 yards as Haydan Webb ran for 16 for 98.

Chestnut Ridge’s defense was a difference maker last week, and could cause problems for Bellefonte’s rushing and passing attack this week.
