TICO Manufacturing adding 38 jobs in Ridgeland

TICO Manufacturing recently announced it is investing $1.6 million and adding 38 jobs in Ridgeland at the Cypress Ridge Industrial Park

A business which found its home in Ridgeland in 2004 recently announced its latest expansion to include an additional 38 jobs in Jasper County.

Southern Carolina Alliance said TICO Manufacturing, a division of Terminal Investment Corporation, announced in early October the company is investing an additional $1.6 million and adding 38 jobs at the Cypress Ridge Industrial Park. The remanufacturing and repair operation will include converting TICO terminal diesel trucks to electric. The company currently has around 300 employees .

The new operations will be located at 307 Cypress Ridge Drive in an existing industrial building, making it the third building TICO has invested in at the Cypress Ridge Industrial Park on Hwy 278 in Ridgeland, a Southern Carolina news release said.

“TICO is pleased to announce our expansion in Ridgeland with the acquisition of an existing facility to be upfitted and modernized at Cypress Ridge Industrial Park,” Jim Grooms, Division President of TICO Manufacturing, said.

Grooms said he wanted to thank the Town of Ridgeland, Jasper County and the Southern Carolina Alliance for their support of the company’s growth in Jasper County.

The expansion, Grooms said, will create 38 jobs over the next 18 months.

“TICO is a major employer, a leader in their field and an asset to Jasper County,” said Jasper County Council Chairman Marty Sauls, who also serves as Chairman of Southern Carolina Alliance. “TICO has been manufacturing the finest terminal tractors, providing good jobs and opportunities in our community, and we can’t thank them enough for their continued investment in our people.”

Sauls said the county was proud to have the renowned manufacturer growing in its region, and they look forward to working with them for years to come.

Town of Ridgeland Mayor Joey Malphrus said each of the newly created jobs represented an opportunity for a better quality of life for those in the community.

“TICO not only makes the best terminal trucks used at ports all over North America, but they have also been making the electric ‘EV’ trucks right here in Ridgeland,” Malphrus said. “The new line to convert diesel trucks to EV will create even more jobs here. It’s a pleasure to see the company growing in our town.”
