Dodgers World Series roster includes Alex Vesia & Brusdar Graterol, but no Evan Phillips

LOS ANGELES — The Dodgers got some reinforcements back for the World Series, with left-hander Alex Vesia, shortstop Miguel Rojas, and right-hander Brusdar Graterol added to the roster for the Fall Classic against the Yankees, the team announced on Friday.

But the team will be without Evan Phillips, who suffered an injury during Game 6 of the NLCS. More information on this later.

Game 1 of the World Series is Friday night at Dodger Stadium (5:08 p.m. PT, Fox).

Vesia and Rojas were active during the Division Series, but were left off the NLCS roster while dealing with an intercostal injury and torn adductor, respectively. Both said on Thursday they were ready to go for the final series of the seven-month season.

Graterol has been sidelined for a month with shoulder inflammation, in a season in which he was only limited to seven appearances. The right-hander has been a key cog in the Dodgers bullpen for five seasons, and brings with him a 1.64 ERA career postseason ERA in 22 innings.

With Vesia, Graterol, and Rojas added, rookie Edgardo Henriquez was removed as well as outfielder Kevin Kiermaier.

Among things the team was still talking through on Thursday was carrying more short relievers than bulk relievers, but the loss of Phillips negated that. However, the Dodger dawgs did add two and subtract one.

“I do think we have a lot of viable candidates that we can match up, we can prepare for whatever scenario, but there’s going to be some tougher conversations for sure,” Roberts said Thursday.

The Dodgers do still have potential length in the bullpen with Brent Honeywell, who will pitch anywhere and at any time, and rookie Ben Casparius, who has pitched 4⅓ scoreless innings in relief this October.
