Here’s How to Dress for the World Series, According to Editors

Welcome to Same Same But Different. As Gen Z and millennial fashion commerce editors, respectively, we know a thing or two about shopping—for all ages, and especially our demographics. As we find the best products for you, we can’t help but do a little shopping for ourselves and build our personal (age-appropriate) wish lists. And now, we’re sharing them with you. Ahead, check out what’s in our hearts and in our carts lately.

Dale Chong: It’s World Series time. Given that the New York Yankees and the L.A. Dodgers are going head-to-head in the finals, I’d say this year’s matchup comes with an added sartorial layer—a fashion battle of the coasts, if you will. And considering the spring/summer 2025 runways at New York Fashion Week had a distinct Americana theme, I’d say it’s important to discuss what we’ll be wearing to watch our country’s favorite pastime.

Meg Donohue: Dare I say baseball is even better in the fall than during the summer? (In my humble opinion!) As a lifelong Yankees fan, I’m jazzed. Although my fingers were crossed for a battle of the boroughs, I have no doubt we’re in for some top-tier competition. Luckily, I actually have plans to attend one of the games in the Bronx. My priorities are always comfort and warmth. Anyone who’s ever attended a postseason game knows that they can be positively frigid. Thankfully, the forecast isn’t too foreboding, so I’m not worried about packing my mittens and scarves. A few simple layers will do. And jeans? Forget about it; it’s cozy pants or nothing for me, baby. Because here’s the thing: It’s a long game. Even with the pitch clock, you can bet on sitting in that seat for three full hours, at least. So, I’ll be wearing soft bottoms, thank you very much.

I’ve heard rumors that you’re a Dodgers fan? Care to elaborate?

DC: Having lived in L.A., it was inevitable. And with this season’s lineup, I have good reason to be a fan—they have Shohei Ohtani, for crying out loud! For at least one game, I’ll be revisiting my Dodgers gear: a classic jersey with a crop top underneath, denim (a.k.a. the state fabric of California), sneakers, and a baseball cap. As you mentioned, it gets chilly at night, hence the Dodgers blanket.

All that said, since moving to New York, wearing that Dodgers hat has felt…wrong. So I will likely be wearing the Yankees emblem this season. Plot twist!

MD: I adopted the Kansas City Chiefs as my NFL team during my college days in Missouri, so I can’t judge that flip too hard.

I’m also really into olive-green cargos this season. I think this Carhartt pair would look casual yet cool with a fleece from Polo Ralph Lauren’s Yankee collection. (By the way, what a flex for the team to have designer merch!)

I’ve never actually been to Dodger Stadium, but I really appreciate how both teams are among the few—eight out of 30!—major league ballparks that have retained their original names rather than adopting the moniker of a corporate sponsor. I can’t imagine a world where the Bronx Bombers play at Taco Bell Field. All my love to the Bell, though. Have you been to Yankee Stadium?

DC: I have! A few times now, actually.

As a longtime fan, where do you think are the best seats in the house? I’ve done the far-back seats with friends for the Dodgers and the up-close and personal spots for the Yankees—and once, I had the distinct pleasure of sitting in a box. I suppose that also affects how I’m getting dressed for the game, but in the event that I need a go-to ensemble for anywhere in the stadium, I’d opt for a casual bomber jacket, knit pants (because comfort, obviously), easy shoes, and a pair of sunglasses—because you never know when the sun will blind you.

MD: The best seats are definitely on the field level, behind home plate in what’s called the “Legends” area, but the most fun seats are undoubtedly among the bleacher creatures. The bench seating is far from comfortable, but you probably won’t be sitting much out there. It’s a very lively crowd. Next time you’re there, you should try the #99 burger! The line is always long, but it’s so yummy. Or, if you’re feeling rowdy after a win, head across the street to Billy’s. What happens at Billy’s, stays at Billy’s. I wonder if they’re hosting a big watch party for tonight’s game…
