On Thursday, we reported that Hard Times Cafe at 1117 Nelson St in Rockville temporarily closed again due to ongoing plumbing issues in the Woodley Gardens shopping center. The restaurant had previously shut down during the week of October 14 for similar problems and originally reopened in July after a closure that started in September 2023 due to plumbing issues.
Due to these ongoing plumbing issues, all restaurants in the shopping center, including Carmen’s Italian Ice, Shanghai Taste, and Z&Z, have had to temporarily while repairs are made. Signs from the affected businesses were posted on Saturday afternoon, notifying customers of the situation. Signage posted by each of the restaurants is shown below.
We will provide an update on the status of the shopping center on Monday.
