Penn State quarterback Drew Allar was not on the field for the Nittany Lions’ first drive in the second half. Broadcast cameras showed him standing on Penn State’s sideline without a helmet and with a towel over his head as backup Beau Pribula led the offense out.
Allar suffered an apparent lower body injury near the end of the first half. He went to Penn State’s locker room with team trainers moments before halftime. He did try warming up before the third quarter began, but had extensive conversations with Penn State’s coaching staff before removing his helmet and remaining on the bench.
Prior to exiting the game, Allar completed 14 of his 18 pass attempts for 148 yards and Penn State’s only touchdown, a 6-yard strike to running back Nicholas Singleton. The Nittany Lions trailed 10-7 at halftime.
Pribula is an experienced backup, as Penn State often utilizes special offensive packages making the most of his athleticism. Pribula signed in 2022 as a three-star quarterback but spent his freshman year playing wideout and safety for the Nittany Lions. Back at QB, he has appeared in all six games this season, throwing for 102 yards and two touchdowns while rushing for 105 yards and another touchdown. He’s rushed for seven touchdowns in his career.
