Kraken Fall to Hurricanes 4-1

The Carolina Hurricanes blew into Climate Pledge Arena on Saturday night and won over the Seattle Kraken 4-1. Jared McCann’s second period goal prevented the Canes from shutting out the Kraken on the final night of their five game homestand.

Jared McCann has recorded 10 points in the last six games (4 goals and 6 assists) and leads with a total of 12 points (5 goals and 7 assists).

Kraken goalie Joey Daccord was named 1st star of the game for stopping 35 out of 38 shots with a .921 SV% and a 3.04 GAA.

Seattle continues to struggle on the power play, missing three opportunities as well as shots on goal. The Kraken only had 19 shots on goal compared to the Canes’ 39. Penalties also plagued the Kraken throughout the game, giving the Canes even more of an advantage. Carolina scored its first goal off a power play from right winger Andrei Svechnikov. Jack Drury scored a tip-in during a scuffle around the net in the second period, and Seth Jarvis scored with a wrist shot. Dmitry Orlov added the empty-netter in the third.

The Kraken leave for a five game road trip starting in Montreal on Tuesday followed by stops in Toronto (Oct. 31), Ottawa (Nov. 2), Boston (Nov. 3) and Colorado (Nov. 5).
