Ipswich Town: Sophie Peskett scores four in 13-0 win over MK Dons in Women’s National League
Ipswich went into the game on the back of a 1-0 home defeat in the WNL Cup by holders Hashtag United last weekend.
Peskett gave them the early lead, and apart from her four and the last one by Bryant, the other goals came from Leah Mitchell, Natasha Thomas, Maisy Barker (2), Lucy O’Brien (2), Eloise King and an own-goal.
“We tried to make good use of the spaces available to our players, and then it was about trying to create some clear chances for our attacking players to put the ball in the net,” Sheehan told BBC Radio Suffolk.
“We were able to to that quite consistently and it’s resulted in a big win for us.
“We wanted to improve on last week and really dialled into the game for the duration.”
Sheehan said games with such a big scoreline can make for “uncomfortable viewing”.
“No-one likes to see results, particularly at this level, with the margin that big,” he added.
“We won, I think, with a reasonably good humility which is difficult when the scoreline suggests it was incredibly one-sided.
“The scoreline is a byproduct of the relentless work we put in in our training weeks.”
Ipswich are five points adrift of leaders Hashtag in the Southern Premier and three behind Oxford United, but have a game in hand on both.
