How to use ChatGPT in iOS 18.2 — here’s everything it can do

Apple’s developer beta for iOS 18.2 is live and giving users a first look at the new ChatGPT feature. As a fan of ChatGPT, I couldn’t help but wonder what to expect with the AI model integrated directly within Siri.

Right out of the gate, I was a little annoyed because Apple kept prompting me to confirm whether I wanted to use ChatGPT with what seemed like every request. But that is a result of Apple’s commitment to user privacy. The prompt to confirm before sending data to ChatGPT is a safety feature which allows users to have control over every interaction and helps to keep sensitive information safe.

Besides, after going through my settings, I discovered that I could toggle off the ChatGPT request option for a smoother experience. It’s actually a good idea to go through all the settings as there are several new ones with Apple Intelligence.

Here’s my firsthand account of trying ChatGPT in iOS 18.2 and what I did with the various features.

To begin using ChatGPT in iOS 18.2, you will need to become a member of the Apple developer beta program. Once you have done that, you will need to download and install the update. From there, enabling ChatGPT is simple, just go back to your Settings. Open Settings and go to Siri & Search.
