PSG cruise past Marseille to continue unbeaten run

Paris St-Germain extended their unbeaten run to nine games and remained top of Ligue 1 with a dominant victory over Marseille on Sunday.

Some Marseille fans left at half-time with their team behind by three goals and having had a man sent off in the first half.

PSG’s Joao Neves opened the scoring for the visitors after just seven minutes, turning home from close range after a Nuno Mendes cross was palmed to his feet.

Marseille’s fortunes rapidly worsened with Amine Harit being shown a straight red card in the 20th minute for a foul on Marquinhos before Leonardo Balerdi flicked an Achraf Hakimi cross into his own net.

PSG controlled the majority of the game, with Marseille’s early’s collapse providing a significant helping hand, and continued to probe for further goals.

They got their third through Bradley Barcola in the 40th minute, a comfortable finish after Ousmane Dembele sent a cross towards him at the back post.

English striker Mason Greenwood was brought off at half-time by manager Roberto de Zerbi after failing to make any real impression for a struggling Marseille side.

The hosts did, at least, manage to prevent PSG inflicting any further blows in the second half, but nevertheless they succumbed to a tough defeat and remain third, six points off the top.

PSG, who lead second-placed Monaco by three points, play Lens on Saturday in their next fixture (16:00 GMT).
