Bio
Erika Richter has been part of the American Society of Travel Advisors (ASTA) staff for almost 10 years, beginning as a manager of government affairs and rising through several roles to become its Vice President of Communications.
She believes in lifting up the voices of everyone and her work is focused on elevating these voices and finding the proper mediums so they are heard. She is fiercely protective of the reputation of the travel advisor profession and laser-focused on sharing the value of ASTA members with travel consumers. Richter turned 36 in July.
“It is a privilege to be a part of the talented team at the American Society of Travel Advisors for nearly a decade,” Richter said. “Together, we navigated some of the most challenging circumstances imaginable. From travel bans to targeted taxes, from a blacklist to a global pandemic that upended the travel industry, ASTA consistently stands up for our community and I’m very proud to play a role in our track record. It’s an honor to work with and learn from some of the best leaders in travel – and the real bonus is that I get to call many of them my mentors and friends. I am grateful and humbled to be recognized for the work that I love to do in the best industry in the world, and I’m energized to continuing shaping the travel advisor story.”
Industry Reference
“When Erika arrived at ASTA, mainstream media stories about travel advisors ranged somewhere between indifference to outright hostility,” said Zane Kerby, President & CEO of the American Society of Travel Advisors. “With determination, skill and sheer grit, Erika has done more to change the public perception of the great work that travel advisors do than anyone. We’re grateful to call her a colleague, and proud she’s being recognized for her work.”
