The 2024 CFDA Fashion Awards will take place at the American Museum of Natural History in New York on Oct. 28, with Cynthia Erivo hosting.

“As a born and bred Londoner, I can safely say that the U.K. has its own sense of style, but when I moved to New York almost 10 years ago, I was welcomed into the open arms of the New York fashion industry. I was blown away by its ingenuity and its flair, and I felt right at home… I cannot wait to celebrate the nominees and honorees in a room full of people I am inspired by,” Erivo said in a statement.

Honorees at this year’s ceremony include Coach,  Michael Kors, Annie Leibovitz and finally, Erykah Badu, who will receive the coveted Fashion Icon Award.

Launched in 2010, the honor recognizes stars who are known for their style. Naomi Campbell, Zendaya, Serena Williams and Iman are among the award’s previous attendees. Rihanna memorably accepted the Fashion Icon Award in 2014 wearing a crystallized Adam Selman “naked dress,” while Beyoncé selected a pinstriped Givenchy suit for her acceptance speech.

Ahead of the 2024 ceremony, WWD looks back at winners of the CFDA Fashion Icon Award through the years.
