Backstage With Emilia, The Argentine Popstar Redefining Y2K Style

In 2023, Emilia’s momentum accelerated with star-studded collaborations and singles from her sophomore project, .mp3, which she released in its entirety that November. Its Y2K dance-pop sound harkens back to early hits from Beyoncé, Britney Spears, and Shakira, whom Emilia names as some of her favorite “pop divas.” The 13-track LP earned the singer her first Latin Grammy nomination, in the category of Best Pop Vocal Album.

“My previous album is beautiful, but it doesn’t have a super developed concept behind it the way .mp3 does,” Emilia says. “In its totality, .mp3 is an album with a specific sound, goal, and stories. I’m so proud of all the growth and progress, which I’ve obviously only achieved with the help of people who have worked with me to turn my ideas into reality.”
