Tonight, the CFDA Fashion Awards took place in New York City and sheer looks were plentiful on the red carpet. From classic black to bold pink statements, sheer outfits were trending. Here, a look at some of the guests who made subtly see-through arrivals.
LaQuan Smith
Nominated for a CFDA Fashion Award for Womenswear Designer of the Year in 2022, LaQuan Smith arrived in an eye-catching all-black look alongside Victoria Monét. The designer opted for a sheer black top, which he wore under a black furry coat. He wore black trousers that had a dramatic flare at the ankle and completed the look with pointed square-toe shoes. Smith accessorized with a statement gold necklace with a large rectangular pendant.
Georgia Fowler
The Kiwi model attended this evening’s festivities in an Alaïa dress from the designer’s spring 2024 collection. The look featured a sheer black form fitting t-shirt dress silhouette, with a bubble cuff skirt and sleeves. The texture was knitted in merino wool loops that imitated fur and offered a contrast to the sheer bodice. She paired the dress with sheer black tights and the Alaïa Decollete Pumps Patent Leather.
DiMondo
DiMondo opted for an extravagant pink sheer moment, switching things up from the other sheer dressed attendees who opted for black. The street style darling wore a bodycon look that also featured gloved sleeves; it included a statement shoulder piece that resembled a tentacle covered in shimmering sequins. Another statement element included a long tulle train designed in various shades of pink. DiMonodo accessorized with chandelier drop earrings and a round satin purse.
Chris Fisher
Chris Fisher wore a Saint Laurent sheer top with a floor-length statement necktie that created a slight train. The top was also sleeveless and featured a deep v-neck, which plunged down to his waist. He paired it with slim high-waisted black trousers that created a trim silhouette. He wore patent leather derbies and finished the look with a pair of black shades.
The 2024 CFDA Fashion Awards will take place at the American Museum of Natural History in New York on Oct. 28, with Cynthia Erivo hosting. Honorees at this year’s ceremony include Coach, Michael Kors, Annie Leibovitz and finally, Erykah Badu, who will receive the coveted Fashion Icon Award.
