Royals beat Blue Jays in final regular season match

The final game of the regular season for both the hosting South Prairie-Max Royals and the visiting Stanley Blue Jays took place Monday, October 28, at the South Prairie gym. Despite competitive play by the visiting Blue Jays, the fifth ranked Royals took the contest 25-10, 25-12 and 25-7 on their home court.

South Prairie-Max led from start to finish in the first and third frames. The Blue Jays had the edge early in frame two and looked to even the match 1-1 only to see the lead get cut and then trail the home team based on solid serving and consistent passing for more accurate attacks.

The home Royals were led by Reagan Trudell with 25 assists, three aces and seven digs. Azjiah Trader tallied eight kills, two blocks and eight digs in the win. Skotti Beck had six kills, Abby Mikkelson, Keira Francis and Skylar Beck each had five kills. Delaney Kankel posted three aces and nine digs for the home team.

The Royals are the second seed for region 6, district 12. The district 12 tournament begins Thursday, October 31, at the Minot Auditorium where the third game of the tournament features South Prairie-Max against the seventh seed, Surrey.

The first game is Our Redeemer’s, the top seed, against Mohall-Lansford-Sherwood, the eighth seed. The tournament door open at 2 p.m. and game one is at 3 p.m.

North Prairie 3, Bottineau 1

The third seed from region 6, district 11 traveled to North Prairie for a final tuneup game before the district tournament. The home team from North Prairie jumped off to a first set win 25-15 only to have Bottineau even the score 1-1 with a win in the second set 25-20.

The home team tightened play and took the next two frames 25-9 and 25-16 for win on their home court.

Bottineau will face the sixth seed in district 11, Nedrose, in round one of the second game of the tournament on Thursday, October 31, at Velva high school.

Harvey-Wells County 3, Dunseith 0

Harvey-Wells County made the trip to Dunseith for a match before postseason play gets started at the end of the week. The visitors took the contest with scores of 25-9, 25-16 and 25-16 for the road win.

Tioga 3, Trinity Christian 0

Tioga traveled to Trinity Christian as the regular season winds down and beat the home team 25-12, 25-9 and 25-17 for the road win.

Tioga is the fourth seed in district 16 and will face the fifth seeded Divide County on Thursday in game one at Divide County high school.
