Production ending at Harrisburg Pepsi bottling plant; 127 to lose jobs
DAUPHIN COUNTY, Pa. (WHP) — Part of a Harrisburg Pepsi bottling plant is shutting down, meaning over one hundred workers will be losing their jobs come December.
Production at the plant on Dana Drive is set to wind down at the end of this year, according to a notice to employees.
The notice goes on to say 127 people will be laid off as a result.
PepsiCo says they will stop transport operations from its Carlisle warehouse, but there’s no word if people who work there will also lose their jobs.
PepsiCo Beverages North America released the following statement to CBS 21:
We are optimizing our manufacturing network, and as a result, we have stopped production at our Harrisburg facility. The Harrisburg location will continue to have sales, delivery and warehouse operations teams. Due to regional sourcing changes and the need to optimize our supply chain network, we have made the tough decision to cease transport operations at the Carlisle location. Supporting our employees during this transition remains our top priority, and we are committed to continuing to serve the community.
