The best and worst states for jobs: Where CT ranks

HARTFORD, CT (WFSB) – Connecticut ranked toward the top end when it came to the best states for jobs, according to a report.

The personal finance website WalletHub.com on Wednesday release its list of the “Best & Worst States for Jobs.”

Out of the 50 states, Connecticut ranked as the 12th best.

To determine the most attractive states for employment, WalletHub said it compared the states across 34 key indicators of job-market strength and economic health. The data included employment growth, the median annual income, and the average commute time.

According to the report, Connecticut‘s job market rank was actually 21st. Its economic environment rank, however, was 10th.

The best states to find a job included New Hampshire, Vermont, and Minnesota.

“Living in one of the best states for jobs can provide stable conditions for the long-term, helping you ride out the fluctuations that the economy will experience in the future,” said Chip Lupo, WalletHub analyst. “The best states for jobs make it easier for residents to find and retain jobs, and employers in these states also offer very competitive compensation and benefits. In addition, the top states are great places for people looking to raise a family, ranking among the best states for working parents.”

The worst were Indiana, Louisiana, and West Virginia.
