Woman-owned small business in Kickapoo receives $30,000 grant
KICKAPOO (25News Now) – A Central Illinois business now has the money it needs to improve.
Peter Rabbit Day Care of Kickapoo was given the giant check Wednesday. The money comes from a grant by Federal Home Loan Bank Chicago. The woman-owned small business now has the chance to improve the quality of care it provides to the children it cares for.
Co-owner and Director Holly Hayden said running a small business puts a lot on the owners, but this kind of support will help.
“It’s always a burden trying to come up with money for upkeep and updates. We’re constantly having to replace equipment in the rooms and stuff, so to have this kind of money is really exciting,” Hayden said.
The Princeville State Bank nominated the daycare for the grant. Vice President of Retail and Business Michelle Webster said places like Peter Rabbit Day Care are dear to the community.
“Small businesses mean a lot to us. They are probably our bread and butter. To keep them going is important. They also keep us going. If you think about it, it’s a full circle,” Webster said.
Some of the renovations the day care hopes to make include shelving, flooring, toys, and the play area outside. Peter Rabbit Day Care of Kickapoo has been running for over 30 years.
