Local business owners learning more over coffee

QUINCY (WGEM) – 1MillionCups (1MC) brought their meetings to Quincy on Wednesday.

1MC describes themselves as an organization for entrepreneurs who want to connect with others. They added Quincy to their list of nationwide weekly meetings where local business owners talk over free cups of coffee.

“The outcomes will be that we have entrepreneurs who feel incredibly supported by their communities, that they have resources and networks and support systems,” meeting organizer Leslie Sieck explained.

There were about a dozen local entrepreneurs and financial professionals in the meeting. David Arns, who owns Area Home Services in Quincy, spoke to the attendees about critical tactics to use when operating a business.

“Survey the workforce and determine what does the majority of the employees want,” Arns said when describing how to build relationships with employees.

While the word entrepreneur is sometimes associated with big city or Fortune 500 companies, Arns explained that businesses in small towns have to find relationships within the community.

The meetings will take place each Wednesday at the Quincy Public Library with free coffee always included.
