Jake’s Gambling Pit: Week 10

Week 10
We’ve been taking a beating lately. Smaller card this week to get back on the right track.
Minnesota at Illinois +3 O/U 45.5
Since their loss to Iowa, Minnesota has looked like a different football team. The Gophers are finally finding their stride with quarterback Max Brosmer, and the defense continues to be stingy. Illinois was the talk of the town but got dominated last week by Oregon. The Illini being 3-point dogs looks a bit out of place for a team ranked in the top 25. I like Minnesota’s defense controlling the Illini receivers and Brosmer to pressure Illinois’s defense, which is beginning to show some cracks.
Minnesota -3
Texas A&M at South Carolina +2.5 O/U 44
It was a grand day in Aggieland when Texas A&M defeated LSU under the lights in Kyle Field. Mike Elko may have found a new starter in Marcel Reed. Here’s the bad news. A read quarterback plays right into South Carolina’s strength, the defensive line. I also don’t like the Aggies going into a hangover game, into “Willie B” against a sneaky good Gamecocks team. I like the Cocks to win, and the under.
South Carolina +2.5 Under 44
Pittsburgh at SMU -7.5 O/U 58
So you are telling me that the undefeated Pitt Panthers are 7.5-point underdogs, after laying waste to Syracuse, against a team that last year was categorized as a “Group of 5” ? Just looking at optics, this looks like it’s going to be all Mustangs. Pony Express wins big.
SMU -7.5
