Andrews Sports Medicine planning new facility at Brookwood Village | Bham Now
According to multiple sources, world-renowned orthopedic clinic Andrews Sports Medicine is planning to redevelop a portion of the vacant Brookwood Village shopping center into a roughly 135,000-square-foot Andrews Sports Medicine and Orthopaedic Center.
On Tuesday, Nov. 5, the Homewood Planning Commission will consider:
- A resurveying of the Brookwood Village property
- The Andrews Sports Medicine redevelopment plan
There will be public hearings on each item; the City will be releasing the plan and survey imminently.
A new home for Andrews Sports Medicine in Birmingham
Andrews Sports Medicine is a world-renowned non-profit clinic specializing in sports medicine and orthopaedic patient care, research, education and injury prevention.
The organization was founded in 1986 and is currently headquartered in The Magic City, with clinic locations in:
- Birmingham (St. Vincent’s)
- Cullman
- Gardendale
- Hoover/Highway 280
- Hoover/Highway 150
- Pelham
- Trussville
Now, Andrews Sports Medicine has its eyes on a new project: a redevelopment of a portion of the vacant Brookwood Village in Homewood. The roughly 135,000-square-foot section is approximately 18% of the 750,754-square-foot shopping mall.
The Homewood Planning Commission will be hearing a request to approve a development plan on Tuesday, Nov. 5.
A planned redevelopment of the vacant Brookwood Village
Located along Shades Creek Parkway between U.S. Highway 31 and U.S. Highway 280, Brookwood Village was opened in 1974 but ran into trouble retaining tenants during the pandemic.
