GIRLS VOLLEYBALL
Division 1
Kimberly 3, Xavier 0
SUAMICO – The top-seeded Papermakers moved one step closer to earning a trip to state when they defeated the fourth-seeded Hawks 25-11, 25-20, 25-21 in a sectional semifinal.
Powering the Papermakers were Ava Reis with 11 kills and nine digs, Ava Van Camp with three aces and 10 digs, Emma Tesch with 12 assists and Ava Van Hammond with 12 assists.
“I thought our team showed a lot of composure against a good Xavier team,” Kimberly coach Carrie Raminger said. “They had us on our heels in both the second and third set. Our girls continue to show maturity and confidence to stay engaged and focused on the next ball. Just really proud of them and grateful to have the chance to go to battle together again.”
Xavier (26-16) was led by Sydney Neilitz with 24 assists and six digs, Jena Bunks with eight digs, Rose Kendall with four kills and two blocks, Elle Downs with three blocks and three kills, Lexi Allen with five kills and two blocks, Grace Hackl with 12 digs, Ali Tylinski with four kills and Madison Daley with 10 kills.
Kimberly will face second-seeded Bay Port in Saturday’s sectional final.
Bay Port 3, Kaukauna 0
SUAMICO – The second-seeded Pirates swept the third-seeded Ghosts 25-22, 26-24, 25-15 to advance to Saturday’s sectional final against Kimberly.
Bay Port moves to 25-2 on the season, while Kaukauna finishes at 28-9.
Division 2
Luxemburg-Casco 3, Freedom 1
LUXEMBURG – The top-seeded Spartans started fast and held off the third-seeded Irish 25-16, 27-25, 17-25, 25-18.
Leading the way for Luxemburg-Casco were Alayna Deprez with 50 assists and 21 digs, Aubrey Frey with 21 kills, 37 digs and two aces, Ella Vander Velden with18 kills, 17 digs and six aces, Campbell Onell with 10 kills and two aces, and Rylan Kaminski with 30 digs.
“What a match. I am so proud of the grit our girls showed tonight,” Spartans coach Jeff Frey said. “That’s a really good Freedom team that has been playing great volleyball. (Freedom coach) Sam (Puckett) has done a great job with her program. We stayed in the fight, didn’t panic in that fourth set and then finished.”
With the win, Luxemburg-Casco advances to Saturday’s sectional final against Kewaskum.
The Spartans move to 28-12 overall, while Freedom finishes at 21-7.
Shawano 3, Mosinee 1
MOSINEE – The fifth-seeded Hawks outlasted Mosinee 25-15, 25-17, 21-25, 25-21 to advance to Saturday’s sectional final against Altoona.
Shawano is now 27-7 on the season, while Mosinee finishes at 28-10.
Division 3
Bonduel 3, Oconto 0
BONDUEL – The top-seeded Bears earned a 25-22, 25-21, 25-15 win over the second-seeded Blue Devils.
Bonduel will face Cedar Grove-Belgium in Saturday’s sectional final.
The Bears are now 28-4 on the season, while Oconto finishes at 22-7.
Division 5
Newman Catholic 3, Green Bay NEW Lutheran 0
WAUSAU – The top-seeded Cardinals outlasted the Blazers 26-24, 25-22, 25-18 in a sectional semifinal matchup.
Leading NEW Lutheran were Emma Laatsch with 10 kills and eight digs, Abby Kirchner with 17 assists and seven digs, Kiley Dhein with six kills and 10 digs, and Lexie Meerstein with two kills and two aces.
The win moves Newman to 28-12 overall and into Saturday’s sectional final against Florence.
NEW Lutheran finishes its season at 31-13.
Florence 3, Niagara 0
FLORENCE – The top-seeded Bobcats advanced to the sectional final with a 25-13, 25-23, 25-16 win over the Badgers.
Niagara finishes its season at 23-7, while Florence moves to 30-8-1 and will meet Newman Catholic on Saturday.
BOYS SOCCER
Division 1
Green Bay Preble 3, Kimberly 2
KIMBERLY – The Hornets defeated the Papermakers to advance to the sectional championship game.
Preble will play Hudson on Saturday for the right to go to state.
Edwin Santiago scored twice and Yosef Navarro had one goal for Preble.
Joel Colvin and Liam Paradiso scored for Kimberly.
In goal, Noah Sommer had two saves for the Papermakers, while Landin Gauthier made six saves for the Hornets.
Preble improves to 15-3-3, while Kimberly finishes the season with a 12-2-3 record.
Brookfield East 2, Neenah 0
BROOKFIELD – The Spartans shut out the Rockets to advance to the sectional final.
Brookfield East will play Arrowhead in the sectional final Saturday. Arrowhead advanced with a 2-0 victory over Sheboygan North.
Division 2
Homestead 1, Notre Dame 0
MEQUON – The second-seeded Highlanders blanked the third-seeded Tritons to advance to Saturday’s sectional final. Homestead will face top-seeded Cedarburg, a 2-0 winner over West Bend West in the other semifinal.
Homestead moves to 13-4-4 on the season, while Notre Dame finishes 11-10-2.
Neenah finishes the season with a 12-6-3 record.
Division 3
Shawano 5, Lakeland 4
MINOCQUA – The second-seeded Hawks outlasted the top-seeded Thunderbirds in overtime to advance to the sectional final.
Shawano will face Rice Lake on Saturday.
The Hawks are 14-7-2, while Lakeland finishes its season at 16-2.
Division 4
Sturgeon Bay 4, Gibraltar/Sevastopol 0
STURGEON BAY – The Clippers advance to the sectional final with the victory.
Sturgeon Bay improves to 16-5-1 and will play Kiel in the sectional championship game Saturday.
