Valley fugitive rams police cars at Bend’s Cascade Village Shopping Center before he’s pinned in and arrested – KTVZ
BEND, Ore. (KTVZ) – A reportedly armed fugitive wanted for several “very recent” felony crimes in the Willamette Valley rammed several law enforcement vehicles at Bend’s Cascade Village Shopping Center Friday evening before he was pinned in and arrested, Deschutes County sheriff’s deputies said.
The sheriff’s office was alerted around 2:30 p.m. about a person sought by federal marshals as responsible for several very recent Measure 11 “felony person crimes” in the Willamette Valley, Sergeant Josh Spano told NewsChannel 21.
Using “various investigative methods,” the fugitive was tracked to the mall on Bend’s north end, where surveillance was conducted by the sheriff’s office and Central Oregon Drug Enforcement Team detectives, as well as other agencies.
Amid a large police presence at the busy shopping center, the fugitive tried to leave the scene, Spano said, and rammed several law enforcement vehicles in the process, but his vehicle was pinned in and was arrested when he was unable to escape.
Spano said there were no injuries to the man or his female passenger, or others on the scene.
“He was compliant when taken into custody” without further incident, Spano said.
More information is expected to be released soon, the sergeant added.
