24 Hour Fitness, Boardroom partner for youth basketball clinic in LA

Youth basketball players participating in a clinic in Los Angeles were surprised by a group of NBA players during a recent community event at La Cienega club.

These 75 kids, part of organizations supporting underserved youth in South LA, including Crenshaw and Westchester YMCA, Al Wooten Center, Air West, and It’s Bigger Than Us, participated in the event led by a 24 Hour Fitness and Boardroom partnership.

The press release from 24 Hour Fitness, a fitness chain, and Boardroom, a sports and entertainment brand, stated that the clinic “was dedicated to empowering the next generation of basketball players, serving local youth and highlighting the importance of fitness, teamwork, and athletic development.”

As Boardroom is led by co-founders NBA star Kevin Durant and agent Rich Kleiman, it had access to people around the league in a variety of capacities. Professional trainer Kieon Arkwright, who founded the Denver Nuggets Basketball Academy, shooting coach Chris “Lethal Shooter” Matthews, and Pro Factory Performance founder Jelany White were among the trainers.

The NBA players who made the surprise appearance were Los Angeles Clippers player Trentyn Flowers and Phoenix Suns players Monte Morris and Royce O’Neale, teammates of Durant.

The kids participated in training exercises and skill-building stations and received feedback from athletes and trainers. They were also gifted with tickets to Clippers games, signed merchandise and 24 Hour Fitness memberships.
