LSCP hosts inaugural Marquette County Small Business Celebration
ISHPEMING, Mich. (WLUC) – A U.P. organization is recognizing small businesses for the vital role they play in the community.
The Lake Superior Community Partnership (LSCP) hosted its inaugural Marquette County Small Business Celebration Friday. Over 60 businesses packed The Mather in Ishpeming to commemorate their accomplishments over the past year.
Organizers say small businesses are what make our communities.
“Typically, when you think about somewhere you love in your community, it’s the coffee shop or the restaurant or the bookstore you go to,” LSCP CEO Christopher Germain said. “Really, small businesses are not just about creating jobs, but they are about creating communities. Being able to recognize the value and input from those small businesses across our county and give them a night to shine is what this is all about.”
At the celebration, the LSCP presented Small Business Awards to Studio Dance Arts, The Mather and Up North Lodge, and a Small Business Champion Award to Negaunee’s City Manager Nate Heffron for his support of small businesses in the area.
