Fitness club on legendary Tel Aviv cinema site unveils new vibe and facilities
Cinema Pe’er Fitness Club, a well-known institution in Tel Aviv, was built on the grounds of the legendary Cinema Pe’er theater, established in 1958. The theater closed its doors in 2007, and by 2010, young entrepreneurs launched a fitness club in its place, bringing a refreshing alternative to standard gyms. They aimed to create a place where people come not out of obligation but to enjoy their workout experience. As a neighborhood fixture, Cinema Pe’er invites everyone and sets itself apart as Tel Aviv’s only long-standing private fitness club, offering personalized training without membership fees. As a result, dozens of personal trainers from all over the city use the space with their clients, some without a permanent membership.
Cinema Pe’er spans over 1,000 square meters across multiple levels, offering a unique, enjoyable workout experience. The main floor features state-of-the-art fitness machines, free weights, and a wide range of studio classes, including functional training, barre, yoga, spinning, Pilates, dance, and boxing in a professional boxing area. It boasts two free-weight areas and a professional training staff, each specializing in their fields, providing daily guidance to members with a high level of expertise. The club also fosters a sense of community through special events during holidays, workshops, lectures, and customer parties.
Cinema Pe’er recently completed renovations on the second and third floors, incorporating the latest equipment from Life Fitness, including digital counters for reps and rest, eliminating any guesswork for both trainer and trainee. Additionally, the gym now features a luxurious recovery area by Hyperice, equipped with innovative vibration-based tools like massage guns, rollers, massage balls, and compression devices designed to improve flexibility, reduce pain, relieve muscle tension, and accelerate recovery. These amenities are available to all club members.
Yanky Obziler, CEO of Cinema Pe’er, explains, “We prioritize having the best equipment and facilities on the market for our members. Beyond being a community, our club has a homey, friendly atmosphere. Besides the renovations, we pay attention to small details that create a personal touch for our members—like providing hair ties, a coffee and water station, and even Slim Delice snacks for free. My goal is to lead Cinema Pe’er forward and give our members a quality, family-like, and luxurious experience every time they come to train.”
