‘This team lacks everything needed at present’

We asked for your views on Rangers’ 2-1 win against Motherwell, which sets them up for the League Cup final against Celtic at Hampden.

Here’s what some of you said:

Ronnie: Another slog, but we’re in the final. Rangers are painful to watch and we need massive improvement if were to win this Cup. Philippe Clement has a huge job to turn Rangers around.

Stephen: A performance and a win that papers over the cracks. First half was dire, second half was better, but we can’t keep doing this every game. We need to have a better tempo on Thursday.

Brian: If Clement doesn’t win silverware this term, it’s time for him to go and he can take Tavernier, Lawrence and Dessers with him. These three have not been pulling their weight for a long time. Need to improve by a long way.

Peter: Watching us miss umpteen open goal chances, you sometimes need a blast of oxygen – it takes your breath away! Absolutely mind-boggling how high-paid players miss them so easily.

Steven: This team lacks everything needed at present. No consistency. No grit. No composure. Rangers can’t keep conceding goals and hope to achieve targets they’ve set themselves. Don’t understand how the tempo isn’t there from the start – same against Killie and Aberdeen. Not nearly good enough I’m afraid.

Phil: Rangers should take no plaudits from this victory. On show was a bunch of gutless, clueless, talentless individuals. The sooner the manager is shown the door the better and he should take most of that team with him.

Lennie: Another very poor performance against a mediocre team. Tavernier had one of the worst display I have seen. I am sorry to say this but this present Rangers team will get annihilated in the Cup final. Our manager can’t keep telling us it is a work in progress.
