We usually spend  a week at Aldi. I took the same list to Piggly Wiggly and didn’t come close to sticking to my budget.

  • I took my $40 weekly shopping budget that I usually spend at Aldi to Piggly Wiggly to compare the chains.
  • Some products, such as frozen veggies and coffee, were similarly priced.
  • But others, particularly grapes and chocolate, were much more expensive at Piggly Wiggly.

My fiancée and I are very loyal to our local Aldi for our grocery needs.

It’s one of the fastest-growing grocery chains in the US, and its affordable selection of goods usually keeps our weekly bill at or under $40.

As part of a series in which I’m taking my standard grocery list to different local stores, I decided to see how far my budget would go at Piggly Wiggly, a regional grocery chain that’s very popular where I live in Wisconsin.
