‘Start Anthony Richardson’: NFL world reacts to Colts quarterback Joe Flacco’s performance
Maybe Pat McAfee got ahead of himself.
The former Indianapolis Colts punter was excited last week after they made Joe Flacco the starting quarterback over Anthony Richardson.
But after Sunday night’s rough performance in a loss to the Minnesota Vikings, he’s less sold on the Colts.
“The AFC South is still attainable. You move to Joe Flacco,” McAfee said of his thinking last week. “I think if they get some professional quarterback play, they can (go on a run).”
As he showed the NBC clip of Richardson yawning on the sideline, McAfee acknowledged his optimism might have been hasty.
“I don’t blame him for yawning. I think everyone who was watching that game was yawning,” McAfee said. “Watching that offense, it’s hard not to check out and get tired.”
Former Colts defensive back Darius Butler, a frequent guest of McAfee, believes it’s time for the Colts to return to Richardson: “How is he going to learn if he doesn’t play?”
Butler isn’t the only one thinking they should return to the second-year QB.
