World of Warcraft Getting Another Major Cross-Faction Play Feature
Key Takeaways
- World of Warcraft Patch 11.0.7 will allow full cross-faction groups to enter dungeons using Group Finder.
- Many fans anticipate the long-awaited cross-faction LFG feature in WoW.
World of Warcraft will soon allow for cross-faction groups to use the Group Finder to enter dungeons, so long as they have a full group. Premade teams of players from both the Alliance and Horde will be able to enter dungeons together once World of Warcraft releases Patch 11.0.7.
Recently, World of Warcraft revealed a first glimpse at Patch 11.0.7, the second content update for The War Within. This patch will take players to the Siren Isle – an unused location from Battle for Azeroth – as they continue the story of the Worldsoul Saga. The first build of this update is already available to play on the World of Warcraft Public Test Realm.

However, this new update is introducing a cross-faction quality-of-life update that many fans have been requesting for a long time. Starting in Patch 11.0.7, cross-faction groups with a full five players will be able to use the Group Finder LFG tool to enter dungeons together. This means full, cross-faction groups will soon be able to queue into random dungeons, Timewalking events, or even special holiday battles in World of Warcraft like the Headless Horseman.
Premade Cross-Faction LFG Queue in WoW Patch 11.0.7
This update will not allow partial cross-faction groups of less than five players to queue into dungeons and fill their extra spots with others. Additionally, should one of the party members leave, the empty spot will not be replaced. As Follower Dungeons rely on having empty spaces in a party, it is unlikely that cross-faction groups will be able to use this feature yet – even though the World of Warcraft NPCs themselves come from both the Alliance and the Horde.
Cross-faction play first came to World of Warcraft in Shadowlands Patch 9.2.5. Since then, it has eased restrictions in several ways, including with the addition of cross-faction guilds in Patch 10.1. World of Warcraft production manager Michael Bybee confirmed plans to add full-party cross-faction LFG soon after the launch of WoW: The War Within, and it seems like those dreams are becoming a reality in the next content update.
Reception to this change is positive among the majority of fans. Many have been asking for the ability to use the Group Finder with Alliance and Horde players for years, especially since events like Timewalking Dungeons are currently inaccessible to cross-faction groups. That said, some fans are still upset that this feature requires a full group, and would love to see an optional toggle for the Group Finder to enable cross-faction LFG. Though some players are vehemently against the idea, if comments regarding this new feature are any indication, most seem to think optional cross-faction LFG is the natural evolution of World of Warcraft from both a story and gameplay perspective.
