Apple Reportedly Working on MacBook Pro Overhaul

Apple is reportedly working on a completely redesigned MacBook Pro, but it likely won’t be released until 2026. While the company is still expected to launch the 2025 MacBook Pro featuring upgraded M5, M5 Pro, and M5 Max chips, a more comprehensive overhaul is likely coming the following year, according to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman in his Power On newsletter on Sunday.

According to Gurman, Apple originally targeted 2025 for the major redesign but encountered delays related to the new display technology. Apple’s 2025 lineup is expected to feature the same design and mini-LED screen as its predecessors.

The redesigned MacBook Pro is expected to include Apple’s first OLED display in the lineup, similar to its current M4 iPad Pro. The 2026 model is also expected to be thinner and lighter.

The MacBook Pro redesign rumor coincides with the upcoming release of the M4 models, which are still expected to ship as planned. Last week, the company unveiled its next-generation laptops with improved graphics capabilities and advanced machine-learning features powered by its advanced M4 processor.

The news also comes amid reports of delays in Apple’s rumored lower-cost Vision Pro headset. According to Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, the production of this more affordable version is now unlikely to begin until after 2027.
