No business license revocation for Pelham bars despite illegal bingo games claims

The Pelham city council voted unanimously to not revoke the business licenses of both The Beer Hog and Blues Bourbon and Brews after a public hearing at a November city council meeting.

Both businesses were the subject of accusations of illegal gambling by hosting bingo games with cash entry and cash prizes which qualifies as a lottery which is an illegal activity in Alabama.

Representatives from both businesses addressed the council, saying on the record they did not know it was illegal, stopped the games as soon as the were notified, and will not continue them.

It was the same result as the previous months meeting where the council held a similar public hearing for two other businesses Pub 261 and Lil Bits Tavern. Both faced the same accusations and received a large community support.

However no one at Novembers meeting spoke in favor of either business.
