Friday Sports: NAC Sports and a legend at Dick’s Sporting Goods
PARISHVILLE, New York (WWNY) – Friday saw some high school action from the NAC and a former Syracuse basketball star visiting Dick’s Sporting Goods in Watertown.
In NAC Baseball. St. Lawrence Central was at Parishville Hopkinton.
Ray Voisine strokes a ground ball to left and Avery Zenger comes around third to score: 1-0 Panthers.
Ball four to Julian Wentzel goes back to the screen. Jordan Snell scores from third. Ryan Griffith also rounds third and tries to score, but is out on the tag by Cole Reiter.
Braeden Cutler slaps a ball to left field. Wentzel touches home.
Cutler later comes home to score: 4-0 Panthers.
Noah Holmes taps a ground ball to short that’s mishandled. Gavin Mallette scores making it 4-1.
Snell grounds the ball toward third. Vpisine home from 3rd.
Parishville Hopkinton goes on to beat St Lawrence Central 14-1.
In NAC Boys’ Lacrosse, St. Lawrence Central hosted Massena.
It was Dugga Thompson to Brady Frost for a flying shot and score: 6-3 Raiders.
The pass to Nolan Jensen, alone in front of the net, dents the mesh.
It was Frost again with a rug burner to make it 8-3.
Ronin Oakes attacks the net, goes top shelf.
Jensen for a rising shot scores up high.
Then it was Connor Provost to Josh Allen – the first shot is deflected, but Alan scoops the ball and scores: 13-4.
Then it was Dominic Murtaugh to Frost who lasers a goal.
Final score: Massena 19, St Lawrence Central 4.
Former Syracuse basketball star John Wallace was in town Friday as part of the grand opening of the new Dick’s Sporting Goods store in the Towne Center Plaza.
Wallace, who was the 18th pick in the 1996 NBA draft by the New York Knicks, led the Orange to the national championship game against Kentucky his senior season.
The Rochester native says he appreciates the Orange fans who continue to support not only him, but the program as well.
”Being at the same school for 4 years, being an Upstate guy, got some Rochesterians in the house, I mean, the amount of love I get I try to reciprocate every ounce of love I get from everyone because it’s humbling that they respect the things I did so long ago on the court, honestly,” said Wallace.
