What events, concerts to check out this November in Corpus Christi and the Coastal Bend

It’s a new month, which means there are new fun events to check out in the Coastal Bend.

Whether it’s a family-friendly gathering to take your little ones to, a concert to dance the night away with your friends, a romantic evening at a fancy soirée with your partner or a treat-your-self day at a local museum, we have rounded up all the events to do this November.

Birding on the Boardwalk in Port Aransas

The Leonabelle Turnbull Birding Center presents Birding on the Boardwalk from 9 to 11 a.m. every Wednesday at 1356 Ross Ave., Port Aransas. Join the experts on the boardwalk that offers great vistas for watching all types of wonderful birds. All experience levels are welcome. No registration required. ‘A Christmas Story’ at Aurora Arts Theatre

Join Aurora Arts Theatre for its production of “A Christmas Story” from Friday, Nov. 15, through Saturday, Jan. 4. The musical follows 9-year-old Ralphie and his quest for the Holy Grail of Christmas gifts: a Red Ryder carbine-action 200-shot range model air rifle. The production is based on the 1983 film. Classes at Art Center of Corpus Christi

The Art Center of Corpus Christi offers classes in pottery, painting, drawing, photography and acrylic fluid art at 100 N. Shoreline Blvd. for ages 18 and older. Classes are space-limited, so sign up early. View schedules and pricing at canvas.artcentercc.org/classes or call 361-884-6406.

Downtown Corpus Christi Run Club

The Corpus Christi Downtown Management District holds its Downtown Run Club at 6:30 p.m. every Wednesday. Meet at Lucy’s Snackbar, 312 N. Chaparral St., then run the 2-mile or 5K loop and earn prizes, get happy hour deals and meet up with other members of the running community. Downtown Farmers Market at Art Center

The Corpus Christi Downtown Farmers Market is from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesdays in the courtyard of the Art Center of Corpus Christi, 100 N. Shoreline Blvd. Vendors will offer fresh produce, locally raised meats, eggs, dairy, baked goods, jams and jellies, pickles, fresh-cut flowers, artisan goods and more. Cost: Free. Free guided nature walks

Oso Bay Wetlands Preserve & Learning Center offers guided nature walks at 8 a.m. Tuesdays and 9 a.m. Saturdays at 2446 N. Oso Parkway. Join preserve staff and explore the trails with different nature topics each week, weather permitting. Dress for the weather and bring good walking shoes and plenty of water. Cost: Free. Free tours of Welder Wildlife Refuge in Sinton

The Welder Wildlife Foundation and Refuge offers free tours to the public from 9 to 11 a.m. and 3 to 5 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays at 10429 Welder Wildlife, Sinton. Tours begin at the foundation’s museum, which houses an array of South Texas wildlife and artwork. Visitors then take a 10-mile driving tour of the refuge through a variety of habitats ranging from upland mesquite-mixed-grass communities to freshwater wetland lakes. Many species of birds and wildlife are generally seen on these tours. Call ahead to ensure tour will be taking place that day. Cost: Free. Information: 361-364-2643 or welderwildlife.org/tours.

Open Mic Night

Every Tuesday, House of Rock holds its Open Mic Night from 6:30 to 10 p.m. at 511 Starr St. The event is open not just to singers, but also comedians, magicians, dancers, jugglers, poets and more. Cost: Free. Information: 361-882-7625.

Southside Farmers’ Market

The Southside Farmers’ Market is from 9 a.m. to noon Saturdays at The Market on Everhart shopping center, 5800 Everhart Road. Rain or shine, come shop local produce, honey, eggs, jams and jellies, pickles and preserves, herbs and spices, snacks, baked goods, body products plus arts, jewelry, crafts and more. Cost: Free. ‘The Wizard of Oz’ at Rockport Little Theatre

Join Rockport Little Theatre for its production of “The Wizard of Oz” from Friday, Nov. 8, through Sunday, Nov. 24. The musical features all the beloved songs and moments from the classic 1939 film. Cost: $15 to $25. Information: rockportlittletheatre.com.

Visit the Art Museum of South Texas

The Art Museum of South Texas is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesdays through Saturdays and 1 to 5 p.m. Sundays at 1902 N. Shoreline Blvd. See multiple exhibitions during your visit, including the newest temporary exhibition, “Target Texas: Studio Practice,” featuring six Texan artists. The exhibition will run through Jan. 26. Cost: $8 adults, $6 military and seniors, $4 students and free for members, Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi students and children 12 and younger. Information: artmuseumofsouthtexas.org.

Visit the South Texas Botanical Gardens

The South Texas Botanical Gardens and Nature Center is open from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily at 8545 S. Staples St. Tour the 182-acre showcase on Oso Creek or stop by one of the specialty gardens or the screened Butterfly House, Anderson Bromeliad or Samuel Jones Orchid Conservatory. Cost: $10 for adults (13-59 years old); $8 adults 60 and older, active military and college students; $6 children (3-12 years old); and free for members and children under 3 years. Water Street Farmers Market

The Water Street Farmers Market is held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. every Sunday at 309 N. Water St. The market features a variety of local farmers, artesian vendors and more. Cost: Free. Information: 361-600-1782.

‘Mean Girls’

Disney On Ice presents Frozen & Encanto

Jason Boland & the Stragglers

Pawfest 2024

The Gulf Coast Humane Society will host its annual Pawfest from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 9, at 3118 Cabaniss Parkway. There will be nearly 50 vendors for pets and people, the Team Zoom stunt dog show, live music, a kids play zone, food trucks and more. Be sure to bring your leashed dog to enjoy the 3-acre dog park. 39th annual Jewish Food Festival

Bring the family to the 38th annual Jewish Food Festival at Congregation Beth Israel at 4402 Saratoga Blvd. The two-day festival will feature food, music, family-friendly entertainment, vintage shop, silent auction and a raffle. Enjoy the best of Jewish food including brisket with kugel, cabbage rolls, split pea soup, matzah ball soup, corned beef sandwiches, sour pickles and challah, along with traditional Jewish pastries like strudel and rugelach. Dillofest 20th Anniversary

23rd annual El Veterano Conjunto Festival

Enjoy the 23rd annual family-friendly El Veterano Conjunto Festival from noon to 9 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 10, at Whiskey Rio Nightclub at 5700 S. Staples St. The event honors not only veterans’ service to our country but also shines a spotlight on the future of the conjunto Tejano genre with scholarships for young musicians. Five-time Tejano Music Hall of Famer Linda Escobar presents this annual event to honor not only veterans but also the memory of her late father, Eligio Escobar. Performers include Lazaro Perez, Los D Boyz, Texas Sweethearts, Mando y La Venganza, David Flores y Los Tremendos Alacranes, Santiago Garza y La Naturaleza, Conjunto Cats and Javier Solis y Los Unikoz.
