The Boston Celtics overcame a slow start but couldn’t finish the job against the Golden State Warriors in Wednesday night’s matchup.

Golden State limited Boston to 40 points in the first half. The C’s finally broke through with a 41-point third quarter and erased a 14-point deficit in the fourth, but the Warriors held on late to secure a 118-112 victory.

Jayson Tatum did his part in his “revenge game” against Steve Kerr and Co. He finished with a game-high 32 points on 10-of-20 shooting (5-10 3-PT).

Derrick White stepped up with Jaylen Brown (left hip flexor) still sidelined, scoring 26 points on 7-of-16 from 3. Big man Neemias Queta came through with 14 points, eight rebounds (five offensive), and two blocks in his second career start.

Warriors superstar Stephen Curry dropped a team-high 27 points. Buddy Hield and Andrew Wiggins added 16 points apiece to help secure Golden State’s fifth consecutive win.

The Celtics will look to bounce back Friday night vs. the Brooklyn Nets at TD Garden. For a complete recap of Wednesday’s action, check out our live blog below:
