On the Circuit: Symphony Fashion Show Kickoff
When the invitation for the 2025 Symphony Fashion Show Kickoff Party arrived, below the pertinent information of who, what, where and when was a simple request from co-chairs Laurie Seabury and Katie Crumbo to wear one of the fashion show’s past designers. On a clear Monday at sunset, Gus Mayer played host to a parade of Oscars and Lelas, Moniques and Carolinas, Prabals and and Pamellas — all garments of course — donned by the most fashionable of Nashville. This year, the Symphony Fashion Show will celebrate its 20th year by bringing back the show’s inaugural designer, Pamella Roland.
As models wearing Pamella’s new line passed lithely through the bastion of fashion, guests enjoyed a signature cocktail — the Miranda Priestly — a nod to Pamella’s recent work on “The Devil Wears Prada” musical. Guests eagerly chatted with friends about which designer they selected for the evening. Revelers also took time to browse the new season’s designs from Pamella — possibly eyeing what might be the perfect gown for an upcoming event.
After Gus Mayer seemingly could not hold another guest, Alan Valentine, president and CEO of the Nashville Symphony, thanked the room full of supporters. He also gave a particular thank you to Laurie and Katie for all their hard work. The two co-chairs expressed their excitement, not only about the upcoming show, but also about this year’s designer. “Welcoming Pamella Roland back as the featured designer for the 20th anniversary of the Symphony Fashion Show is a full-circle moment,” said Katie and Laurie. “Her collection set the standard for what has become a signature event for the symphony and the Nashville community.”
Executive chair Sandra Lipman said a few words about the history of the show and invited Janice Elliott Morgan, Gus Mayer’s chief buyer — and a familiar figure to everyone in the room — to take the floor. What many perhaps did not know was that the fashion show party would soon become a birthday party to celebrate Janice’s special day. As Sandra directed attention toward Janice, Bruce Pittman stealthily ferried a beautiful birthday cake — with candles lit — to present to the woman of the hour. The buzz in the room was palpable as excitement grew for the upcoming show.
