Ribbon cutting ceremony unveils new local business
GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KJCT) – The Business Incubator Center held a ribbon-cutting ceremony for a new business Friday afternoon.
SURPStone, the newly established business, takes single-use repurposed plastic trash from the community, and integrates them into concrete landscape items.
Currently, the company has products in two True Value stores and the New Way Refillery at Colorado Mesa University.
“I am passionate about plastic-waste reduction, and I love reusing anything if I can make it into something new. SURPStone allows me to make an impact on the community I love by removing plastic waste from our landfill, and creating something new and enduring from it by turning trash-plastic into eco-groovy aggregate,” says SURPStone’s founder Jill Layton.
The founder of SURPStone hopes to see many of their products in local hardware and garden stores by Spring 2025.
