New saloon and charitable gaming hall brings entertainment, charity to Adairville

ADAIRVILLE, Ky. (WBKO) – A new establishment blending entertainment, dining and charity has opened in Adairville, bringing a unique twist to the community.

The Dueling Pistols Saloon and Sadie Nauy Charitable Gaming Hall celebrated its grand opening Monday, offering more than just a night out by contributing to local causes.

Named for the infamous duel between Andrew Jackson and Charles Dickinson that occurred near Adairville, the saloon offers a space for the community to gather, while the charitable gaming hall supports children and seniors in need.

The new venue was founded by the Sadie Nauy Charitable Foundation.

“Sadie Nauy, Aunt Sadie, was a longtime, forever, Atlantic City resident,” said Deborah Hirsch, the foundation’s president and CEO. “She worked for wealthy people all her life as a bookkeeper, and when she was 100 years old, she decided that she wanted to pass her legacy along and help children in need and seniors in need throughout the Atlantic City community.”

Adairville Mayor Donna Blake expressed optimism that the saloon and gaming hall will bring new visitors to the small town, located near the Kentucky-Tennessee border.

“Something like this, I think we can become a destination city where this is going to bring people from Tennessee, northern Kentucky, that are coming here now,” Blake said. “I think it’s going to be wonderful.”

Beyond attracting visitors, the new venue is already making a difference locally. Although the official grand opening was just held, the foundation has contributed to Adairville by donating to the police department and Adairville School.

“They’re very much into helping children. Everything that they do is for a child,” Debra Kelly, the foundation’s treasurer, said. “They send children to camps. Wherever they are, they find the less fortunate children and help them.”

The saloon aims to be a welcoming place for local residents as well.

“You can have ball nights where the guys come in and watch the games and the ladies either watch the games or sit around and talk,” Blake said. “I think it’s just going to help us as a community come together.”

For the foundation, the venue is about continuing Sadie Nauy’s legacy of charity, particularly for the most vulnerable.

“That’s what this is all about,” Hirsch said. “Reaching out into the community to do good for all of those in need.”

The Dueling Pistols Saloon and Sadie Nauy Charitable Gaming Hall is located at 109 Prohibition Ave. in Adairville. They open at 11 a.m. seven days a week, with gaming starting at noon.
