YogaSix, a national brand of fitness boutiques, has opened a new studio in Elwood.

The 2,331-square-foot studio in the Northport Plaza shopping center at 1941 Jericho Turnpike is the chain’s third location on Long Island following others in Plainview and Lake Grove.

The new YogaSix in Elwood is the first of three studios to be owned by the wife-and-husband franchisee team of Amisha and Hemant Patel. The couple will soon be opening an 1,878-square-foot YogaSix in the Huntington Commons shopping center and a 2,077-square-foot studio at B2K’s new Boardwalk mixed-use development in Long Beach.

The Patels have corporate backgrounds. Amisha Patel spent 23 years in supply chain as a planner and operator in the fashion industry, while her husband Hemant worked in IT for the sports industry for the same length of time, according to a company statement.

Originally from Zambia, Amisha Patel moved to the U.S. for college and has called Long Island home for the past 25 years. Hemant Patel, who was born in India, moved to Connecticut and then Long Island during his high school years. They both have yearned to own their own business and chose YogaSix because of the transformative impact that yoga has had on their community.

“YogaSix was the first place where I truly felt supported, not just physically but mentally as well. It became a space for me to grow and heal in ways I never imagined,” Amisha Patel said in the statement. “Now, I can’t wait to give back to my community by creating the same supportive environment and experience that made such a difference in my life.”

The all-in cost to open a YogaSix studio ranges from $294,836 to $499,236, according to the company’s franchise information. YogaSix is one of 10 fitness brands under the Xponential Fitness umbrella, which includes Stretch Lab, Club Pilates, Rumble, Pure Barre, BFT, Cyclebar and more.

YogaSix offers a variety of yoga classes, from deep stretching, to stress relief, to high intensity training. The brand’s six formats include Y6 101, Y6 Restore, Y6 Slow Flow, Y6 Hot, Y6 Power and Y6 Sculpt & Flow, with each class catering to different fitness levels and strengthening yoga’s mind-body connection. The Elwood studio will also offer the brand’s newest class type, Y6 TRX, which incorporates all six core classes utilizing a full TRX wall mount system. Monthly memberships are available for four, eight or unlimited visits per month, and there is also the option to drop-in.

Daniel Glazer and Joanne Argenti of RIPCO Real Estate represented YogaSix, while their RIPCO colleague Jeremy Isaacs represented landlord BLDG Management in the Elwood lease transaction.
