A new attraction is coming to Kings Island.

Six Flags Entertainment Corporation, the parent company of Kings Island and Cedar Point, announced Thursday that the Mason amusement park will introduce a new family thrill attraction for the 2026 operating season.

Kings Island will release more information about the new attraction as details and timetables are finalized.

According to a press release, Kings Island’s new family-friendly entertainment is part of a $1 billion investment that Six Flags is making over the next two years to enhance the guest experience at its 42 parks. The investments of $500-$525 million in both 2025 and 2026, will include new rides, attractions, themed areas, dining upgrades, and technology enhancements that will “deliver an unparalleled level of fun and excitement to guests of all ages.”

“Our capital investment plans for the next two years reinforce our commitment to providing unmatched thrills, immersive entertainment and lifelong memories to guests of all ages,” Six Flags president and CEO Richard A. Zimmerman said in the release. “The new Six Flags has a unique opportunity to refresh and renew the guest experience, one so compelling that a visit to one of our parks will be viewed as an indispensable choice in family entertainment.”

Six Flags announced in August that it will launch seven new roller coasters at theme parks across the country in 2025. This includes RiverRacers, the first and only dual-racing water coaster in Ohio, which will debut at Kings Island.

The new ride will send thrill-seekers down a three-story first drop, then propel them uphill through an identical side-by-side race course of enclosed and open tubes and 180-degree high-bank turns before hitting a final straightaway drop to the finish line pool below.

Seven new water slides will also be installed in Splash River Junction, a riverside-themed play area for kids.

According to Mason’s records, the project is expected to cost about $4.5 million, The Enquirer reported on Aug. 1. Kings Island’s last major change or addition was the opening of its Camp Snoopy district this year.

Six Flags merged with Cedar Fair in an $8 billion deal, forming a theme park giant with 42 locations across the country. Six Flags absorbed former Cedar Fair properties in Ohio, including Cedar Point and Kings Island, in the process.
