Education, Entertainment Makes For Successful Inaugural Kids Day Game – Valparaiso University

This past Tuesday, Valparaiso University and Valpo Athletics welcomed nearly 500 fifth-graders from Valparaiso Community Schools to campus for the inaugural women’s basketball kids day game.

Upon their arrival on campus, the youngsters had the opportunity to tour the University campus. They then made their way over to the ARC, where they got to check out the ESPN Valparaiso University Productions control room – the hub for all of Valpo’s home ESPN+ broadcasts.

After the fifth-graders settled into the stands in the arena, staff members from ESPN Valparaiso University Productions addressed the group, highlighting all the hands-on experience students at the University get working on various positions on the ESPN broadcasts. Then, it was time for the game, as the group of youngsters brought great energy throughout the game, helping to lift Valpo to the victory. They capped the day by getting to join the team in ringing the Victory Bell.

Thank you to Valparaiso Community Schools and all who took part in making our inaugural women’s basketball kids day game a success!
