St. Louis chefs win big at World Food Championships

ST. LOUIS, Mo. (First Alert 4) – If you want to experience the best bacon or burger in the country, you don’t have to go far. A group of chefs in the St. Louis area scorched the competition at the World Food Championships (WFC) in 2024.

The WFC was held in Indianapolis from Nov. 8-12. Competitors from more than 35 states and nearly 20 countries battled to take home titles across 12 different categories. In total, more than 225 teams competed.

Three chefs from the St. Louis area walked away with championship titles.

Jevon Brewer – First Place, World Chef Competition

Jevon Brewer is a “Culinary Creative” with Umoja Food Group in St. Louis. He’s also served in chef roles at Bar Moro, Baileys Restaurants, Casa don Alfonso at The Ritz-Carlton St. Louis, and Sushi Chef at Drunken Fish. Read more about Brewer here.

Chef Jack Mac (Jack MacMurray) – First Place, Bacon World Championship

Chef Jack Mac serves as the Executive Chef at Old Hickory Golf Club in St. Peters, Mo. In the past, he has cooked for President Ford, won several awards, and has served as an executive chef in the St. Louis area for more than two decades. Read more about MacMurray here.

Robin Ray, Umoja Food Group – Second Place, World Burger Championship

Robin Ray is VP of Culinary Operations, Nutritional Services, & Food Manufacturing, CEO and Founder of BITE, LLC, as well as VP of Operations, Umoja Food Group. She has also served as Director of Culinary Operations at HOSCO/North Sarah Food Hub. First place was given to a chef from Dubai, making Ray’s burger the best in the United States. champions deserve incredible kudos. And I can’t wait to see them compete again in a few months at the Final Table for an additional Grand Prize of $150,000!”
