One severely injured in fire that destroyed Caledonia trucking business

CALEDONIA, Minn. (KTTC) – Nearly three months after a large fire broke out at Joe Rud Trucking, investigators determined the cause of the fire to be accidental.

According to the investigation report from the MN State Fire Marshal Division, James Taylor, an employee of Joe Rud Trucking, was working on a mini-van in the oil pit when sparks from his tools ignited the fuel tank.

After fleeing the structure and calling 911, Taylor was transported to Gundersen Health System in La Cross with 3rd-degree burns.

The building, that housed Joe Rud Trucking and H&R Enterprises, was completely destroyed on August 17.

No other injuries were reported.
