New local restaurant, holiday business events in the limelight
A new West Marin restaurant serving Mediterranean-inspired dishes and a Healdsburg holiday celebration showcasing downtown businesses take center stage in our tourism and hospitality report.
Mediterranean-inspired restaurant opens in West Marin
Mable’s, a 100-seat restaurant serving Mediterranean-inspired dishes, has opened in West Marin.
Managed by and located at the Lodge at Marconi, the restaurant is helmed by Executive Chef Les Goodman, according to the Nov. 7 announcement.
Goodman, who brings more than 25 years of culinary experience to his role at Mable’s, also is a part-time associate faculty chef instructor at Santa Rosa Junior College, according to the news release.
Before joining Mable’s, he served as the executive chef and CEO of Goodman’s Jewish Delicatessen in Santa Rosa.
Mable’s includes a full bar and a 1,300-square-foot wraparound outdoor patio that overlooks Tomales Bay, according to the announcement.
The restaurant’s beverage program, in partnership with Oakland-based distributor Revel Wines, features a rotating selection of wines and cocktails, according to the release.
“Opening Mable’s has been a labor of love, and we are so proud to be a part of this incredible West Marin community,” Goodman said in the announcement. “I am especially excited to introduce both locals and travelers to some new flavors and unique dishes through this (Mediterranean) style of cuisine.”
Mable’s is open for dinner Tuesdays through Saturdays, from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. Additional meal periods will be added early next year, according to the release. Reservations can be made through Tock.
Healdsburg for the holidays
The Healdsburg Chamber of Commerce and Stay Healdsburg have launched a holiday celebration that runs through Dec. 31 to promote local businesses.
Called “A Season to Sparkle,” the two business and tourism organizations are partnering with Healdsburg wineries, restaurants, hotels and shops on holiday menus, tree-lighting ceremonies, late-night shopping with wine in the plaza and more, according to Jessica Bohon, director of tourism and marketing for Stay Healdsburg and the Healdsburg Chamber.
Among the events are a wreath-making class hosted by Appellation, which is building a hotel in Healdsburg. The 2-hour “Crafted Appellation” program takes place Nov. 21 and Nov. 23. It will include premium wines and gourmet culinary snacks from Chef Charlie Palmer. Tickets are priced at $145.
Late-night shopping events are set for Nov. 29, Dec. 9, Dec. 13 and Dec. 20, and a small business holiday makers’ market will take place Nov. 30.
