Ohio State football kicks off against the Northwestern Wildcats at noon in Wrigley Field in Chicago, Illinois which will be on the Big Ten Network. If it wasn’t already clear based on the 4-5 record of Northwestern, hopefully the 28.5-point spread provided by BetMGM can clear up the difference in talent between these two squads.
After the Buckeyes dismantled the Purdue Boilermakers last weekend to the tune of 45-0, you would think most people would be unloading their wallet on OSU, but guess again. Our good friends at the Sports Gambling Podcast are going the opposite way. The trio of Colby Dant, Sean Green, and Ryan Kramer had shared their thoughts on the upcoming match-up on their most recent college football show and the Wildcats were a consensus pick.
It should be noted that their selection of Northwestern was purely against the spread. The overall theme was fear in the lookahead to the Indiana Hoosiers as Green said, “is Ohio State looking ahead to undefeated Indiana?”
Dant added the competitive match-up the last time these two squads met up in 2022 as evidence to further back the Wildcats, “this was actually a close game into the second half and for that reason alone, just with Indiana on deck, I will take the 30. I think Ohio State cruises to a win, but I just think Northwestern does just enough to stay within that number.”
The Buckeyes only beat Northwestern 21-7 back in 2022. Kramer also took the Wildcats questioning the legitimacy of OSU, “are we sure Ohio State is good this year?”
I tend to disagree with their takes on the game, but they do make interesting points.
